A gorilla trek is one hour in the presence of a specific habituated family — spent at a distance of seven metres, watching them eat, play, groom and occasionally glance at you with an intelligence that is startlingly close to human. It is an experience of singular power.
This itinerary pairs two of Bwindi's finest lodges with a chimpanzee tracking excursion in Kibale Forest, giving you an extraordinary primate-focused journey. Uganda is also beautifully accessible — less complex and less expensive than Rwanda for a first gorilla experience.
